This photo shoot covered an event by the German National Tourist Board, which took place in Milan on an autumn day. Representatives from the most important German regions with a vocation for tourism met with some of the major Italian tour operators, presenting the natural and artistic beauties of Germany as well as the strengths of organizing tourist stays in Germany.
Unfortunately, anti-contagion measures imposed, as usual, strict social distancing. However, the atmosphere was still very cheerful and friendly, and my commitment was to capture the joviality of the day despite the spaced-out attendees.
Photographing people who interact at a distance, and mostly wearing masks, is the challenge that, as a photographer, I face nowadays and find stimulating: since it’s not possible to see and photograph people’s smiles, the effort is aimed at trying to capture interactions between subjects through body language.
